The government is collecting Rs 47 per liter tax from the people.
According to sources in the Petroleum Division, a petroleum levy of Rs 30 and GST of Rs 14.55 is being levied on a liter of petrol.
Sources said that the price of a liter of petrol includes Rs 2.44 paise customs duty.

In addition, the government is levying a tax of Rs 51 on a liter of diesel, a petroleum levy of Rs 30 on diesel, while the price of a liter of diesel includes Rs 14 74 paise GST and Rs 6 20 paise customs duty. ۔
It may be recalled that Prime Minister Imran Khan yesterday approved the summary of increase in prices of petroleum products after which the Finance Ministry issued a notification to increase the prices of petroleum products.
Prices of petroleum products have been increased by Rs 25 per liter.
