Wife & Family


  • "The believers who show the most perfect Faith are those who have the best behaviour, and the best of you are those who are the best to their wives". [At-Tirmidhi].
  • "Spend on them and you will be rewarded for what you spend on them". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
  • "Whatever you spend seeking thereby the Pleasure of Allah, will have its reward, even the morsel which you put in the mouth of your wife". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
  • "It is enough sin for a person to hold back the due of one whose provision is in his hand".
  • A man once told the Prophet that he had many children but did not kiss any of them. The Prophet (Peace be Upon Him) replied: "Verily, God will only show mercy to those of His servants who do good to others." Imam Bukhari's Book of Muslim Morals and Manners
  • As he carried his grandson on his shoulders, the Prophet was heard to say: "O God! I love him, so You love him too." Imam Bukhari's Book of Muslim Morals and Manners.
  • "Verily, a man teaching his child manners is better than giving one bushel of grain in alms." (Muslim)
 
Parents


  • A person came to Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) and asked, "Who among people is most deserving of my fine treatment?'' He (Peace be Upon Him) said, "Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then your nearest, then nearest".
  • "May he be disgraced! May he be disgraced! May he be disgraced, whose parents, one or both, attain old age during his life time, and he does not enter Jannah (by rendering being dutiful to them)". [Muslim].
  • "(Of the) major sins are: to ascribe partners to Allah, disobey parents, murder someone, and to take a false oath (intentionally)". [Al-Bukhari].
  • "It is one of the gravest sins to abuse one's parents.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
 

Moderation


  • It was reported that the prophet was never offered two things (options) but chooses the easiest.
  • "God did not send me to be harsh, or cause harm, but He sent me to teach and make things easy." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 707
  • The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, the nights." - Sahih Al Bukhari - Volumn I, Hadith 8
 
Kindness


  • "Be kind, for whenever kindness becomes part of something, it beautifies it. Whenever it is taken from something, it leaves it tarnished." He also said: "Make things simple and do not complicate them. Calm people and do not drive them away." - Imam Bukhari's Book of Muslim Morals and Manners
  • The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would hear the crying of a child in the company of his mother during payer, and he would then recite only a short portion of the Quran (to end the prayer and let the mother comfort her child)." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 220
  • "God did not send me to be harsh, or cause harm, but He sent me to teach and make things easy." - Sahih Muslim, Hadith 707
  • "Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever is not kind has no faith." (Muslim)
  • "Whoever is kind, Allah will be kind to him; therefore be kind to man on the earth. He Who is in heaven will show mercy on you."(Abu Daud: Tirmidhi)
 
Equality


  • "God does not judge you according to your bodies and appearances, but He looks into your hearts and observes your deeds."
 
Justice


  • "The just will be seated upon pulpits of light.'' Those who are fair with regards to their judgement and their family and those who are under them.'' [Muslim].
  • "To administer justice between two people is charity." - Fiqh-us-Sunnah, 3:98
  • "The just and fair will be seated on chairs of light before God. Such people are those who decide with justice and deal justly in matters relating to their families and other affairs entrusted to them." - Riyadh-us-Saleheen, Hadith 650
 
Modesty


  • "Shyness does not bring anything except good.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
  • Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) passed by a man of who was admonishing his brother regarding shyness. Messenger of Allah (Peace be Upon Him) said, "Leave him alone, for modesty is a part of Iman.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
  • "Verily, Allah is mild and is fond of mildness, and He gives to the mild what He does not give to the harsh." (Muslim)
 
Treating Elders


  • "If a young man honours an older person on account of his age, Allah appoints someone to show reverence to him in his old age" [At-Tirmidhi].
  • "He is not one of us who shows no mercy to younger ones and does not acknowledge the honour due to our elders". [At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud].
  • "Verily, it is one of the respects to Allah to honor an old man." (Bukhari)
 
Selflessness and Sympathy


  • "The food for one person suffices for two; the food for two suffices for four, and the food fof four suffices for eight persons.''
  • "Many a person with shaggy and dusty hair, dusty and driven away from doors (because of their poverty and shabby clothes) were to swear by Allah (that something would happen), Allah will certainly make it happen". [Muslim].
