Eid Mubarak to the Muslim Ummah in advance... May this day bring blessings upon every Muslim in this life and the next. Ameen.

I hope everyone uses this day to remember its full meaning instead of just using it for eating and visiting families. We should all visit our poor relatives and neighbors, and then extend our care to other needy people, spending time with them, laughing with them, and enjoying their company on Eid Day. Why is it so hard?

Actually, Eid is not really about money or eating. It's about love and harmony. We, as Pakistanis, don't truly celebrate Eid. We often waste money on Chand Raat, flocking to markets to ogle and tease people. On Eid, we wake up late, miss prayers, eat voraciously, then watch movies or sleep all day, only to indulge in more food while wearing our expensive new clothes. We tend to forget the poor who are suffering even on Eid day, those who have nothing to eat. What kind of celebration is this? For the rich? We have forgotten the true meaning of Eid. Every year, we miss this unique chance to create harmony and love in the country, bridging the gap between the rich and poor, and reducing social disparity.

Islam has a strong stance for peace, love, harmony, and equality among all Muslims. Islam, as everyone knows, is a perfect religion that teaches how to redistribute wealth from the rich to the poor through Zakat and Fitrana. We can help the needy on an individual level by giving them money well before Eid and on Eid Day, so that they and their children can also find relief, even if only for one day. We can endeavor to help all these poor people economically, socially, morally, and financially by giving Zakat and Fitrana. Let's include all the poor, hungry, homeless, and everyone in need in our prayers, not just on this day, but every day. InshaAllah.
