Protests intensify in Karachi in the wake of the Faizabad operation.
Police have taken control of the Faizabad bridge, according to government sources.
Security forces have also been injured and affected due to the tear gas shelling. The injured among them have been shifted to PIMS Hospital for medical treatment. As per reports, emergency has been imposed in hospitals across Rawalpindi.
Most of the protesters retreated and the others who were attempting to flee were taken into custody. Heavy contingents of Police, Frontier Constabulary and Rangers are taking part in the operation.
Islamabad Administration in compliance of Court orders has launched operation against the protest sit-in at Faizabad interchange to clear the area.
In an attempt to disperse the protesters who have blocked the main Faizabad Interchange, law enforcement personnel resorted to tear gas shelling.
Islamabad administration had warned protesters to disperse and call off their protest by midnight on Friday night. However, protesters hailing from religious parties had refused to heed the warnings from the government and had continued their protest.
