What is Smog?
Dear friends, As we observed that there is spreading smog now a days over some cities especially people of Lahore are facing this problem now a days. I would like you guys to take some preventive measures so that you don't get affected by the adverse symptoms. Smog also known as ground level ozone, poses serious risks to public health and environment. The atmospheric pollutants or gases that form smog are released in the air when fuels are burnt. When sunlight and its heat react with these gases and fine particles in the atmosphere, smog is formed. It is purely caused by air pollution.

How can smog affect your health?
Smog is a serious problem in many cities and continues to harm human health due to its ozone content.These include:
  • Especially harmful for senior citizens, children, and people with heart and lung conditions such as emphysema, bronchitis, and asthma.It can inflame breathing passages, decrease the lungs working capacity, cause shortness of breath, pain when inhaling deeply, wheezing, and coughing.
  • It can cause eye and nose irritation and it dries out the protective membranes of the nose and throat and interferes with the body's ability to fight infection, increasing susceptibility to illness.
  • Smog is also linked to certain birth defects like spina bifida (a condition involving, among other manifestations, certain malformations of the spinal column), and anencephaly (the underdevelopment or absence of part or all of the brain, which if not fatal usually results in profound impairment.

Smog Preventive Measures
  • Don’t take chances with smog on days when air quality is poor. The best approach is to spend less time outdoors and replace vigorous activities, like running or biking, with gentler options, such as walking.
  • Avoid breathing into smog directly, keep your nose covered.
  • Use of Medical Mask and glasses.
  • Wash your eyes frequently
  • Use of full sleeve shirts.
  • In case of any issues consult a doctor
These simple steps can help protect you and your family on smoggy days, whether you live in a major city or you’re just passing through.
